Skills to build a healthy and inclusive wellbeing culture

COURSE OUTLINE

Exploring mental health through the lens of work culture.

This half-day course provides skills and frameworks to build a positive and preventative mental health culture at work in a practical, informative, and interactive format.

By understanding how work culture and mental health go together, a manager is able to put in place preventative care strategies, identify issues sooner, and get a team talking about building a healthy, supportive workplace.

This leads to less firefighting and a more inclusive working environment for those who are struggling.

We cover how to…

  • Understand the role of a manager and our capacity

  • Identify the risks and dynamics of a working environment

  • Build a positive mental health culture

  • Make reasonable adjustments that are inclusive

  • Upskill and implement 1% changes

  • Check-in and understand our own mental health

KEY ISSUES

The post-pandemic workplace changed.

More people work from home and we don’t always see how colleagues and direct reports are doing.

Managing mental health is complex.

And getting this wrong is expensive — slower productivity, missed communication, and eventually staff sign off.

It’s hard to know where the line is.

It’s difficult to tell the line between personal and professional or how to talk about sensitive issues.

This course is designed to address those issues and provide a number of practical people-first strategies to fit your working environment and implement attainable changes.

Do it! This course will provide you with a better understanding of the signs of mental health illness, some tools regarding making reasonable adjustments, techniques for getting the team talking and feeling comfortable talking to you about how they are feeling.

I think soft skills are not well taught in the area of STEM that I work in, so this is a useful course. It’s one of the many tools that managers need to build and maintain high performing teams.
