Key Issues

  1. The post-pandemic workplace changed. More people work from home and we don’t always see how colleagues and direct reports are doing.

  2. Managing mental health is complex. And getting this wrong is expensive — slower productivity, missed communication, and eventually staff sign off.

  3. Knowing the line. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the line between professional and personal or how to approach a sensitive conversation.

Many of my direct reports work casual hours and it is challenging to keep up to date with how they are doing. We had someone reach a crisis point outside of work.
— Esther Bartholomew, Manager @ Play to the Crowd

Outcomes

This course tackles these issues by looking at mental health through the lens of work culture. On The Managers Course, we cover how to…

  • Understand the role of a manager and our capacity.

  • Identify the risks and dynamics of a working environment

  • Build a positive mental health culture

  • Make reasonable adjustments that are inclusive

  • Upskill and implement 1% changes

  • Check-in and understand our own mental health

By understanding how work culture and mental health go together, a manager is able to put in place preventative care strategies, identify issues sooner, and get a team talking about building a healthy, supportive workplace. This leads to less firefighting and a more inclusive working environment for those who are struggling.

Mentality

Included with The Managers Course (worth £18)

Mentality is an online video course that will give you a base knowledge of how to spot the signs of poor mental health and take action. This 1 hour course is required viewing in advance of the online training. This allows delegates to hit the ground running and get the most out of the half day.

Wellbeing session

Bonus: Free Wellbeing Session by Mindcare Training (worth £60)

Upon completing The Managers Course, you will receive a code for one free Wellbeing Session through Mindcare Training. This online live training session is designed to better your personal wellbeing. A wide array of subjects are available to choose from including self-esteem, listening, stress, and identity. Sessions last 90 minutes and have no more than 25 delegates.

I think soft skills are not well taught in the area of STEM that I work in, so this is a useful course. It's one of the many tools that managers need to build and maintain high performing teams.
